MoYou Suki Plate Stamping

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Hi!

Recently, I received my first ever stamping plate -- the MoYou Suki collection 01 plate. It has a lot of really amazing patterns (the one below, zebra stripes, waves, abstract stuff) and some really beautiful images (which will be coming later this week!).

Unfortunately, my stamping skills aren't quite up to par -- stamping is a LOT harder than the YouTube tutorials made it look!

First attempt
This is Nails Inc. South Kensington (of the Nails Inc. foil collection) stamped on Nails Inc. Baker Street

Second stamping

And here's my second attempt at stamping! It looks interestingly vintage-y, I guess..

Does anyone have any magical tips/tricks for stamping? Or is the key to just stamp a lot? (which I'll definitely be doing regardless) Have you tried any of the MoYou plates?

Thanks for reading!

  1. This is a much better first attempt than mine :)
The first time I tried stamping I almost cried. I thought "OMG! I can't do this! I wasted my money!"
It really does take A LOT of practice. Getting the timing down just right, and the proper motions.
But if I can do it, you can do it! Trust me :)
And I LOVE MoYou plates. They're fantastic.

    1. Thanks! That's comforting -- I saw some bloggers' first attempts at stamping and they looked perfect. Your stamping looks really good!
I agree, I really want the Sailor plate now :)

  2. I think it looks good and I agree with Gio, it can take some time but the more you practice you'll get better at it. Not sure what stamper you got but the rubber/XL one is the best. Many different sellers but it is the same thing: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR3.TRC1.A0.Xxl+stamper+&_nkw=xl+stamper+&_sacat=0&_from=R40 Also, the faster you scrape, pick up the image & stamp the better, in your first pic it looks like it may have dried a bit? Also, not every opaque polish works great for stamping- so that can be kind of hit or miss to find one that works well. Sally Hansen insta-dris work really well, if you want a silver theirs is called Silver Sweep. I just found your facebook page too and liked it, feel free to message me if you have any other questions about it!

    1. Thanks! I have the Konad double-ended stamping, but I've heard some people have squishy stampers and they work really well. Yeah, that's probably a good idea -- it took me awhile to get the hang of scraping off the polish right :P I will definitely check out the Insta-Dris! Thanks for all the tips!
